WikiLemon talk:Point-of-view policy

(Originally to BadgetSmuck) I’m wondering why you say on your userpage that there’s too much POV. WikiLemon is not Wikipedia. WikiLemon is not supposed to be NPOV. Things should be neutral where it’s a matter that is actually controversial among fans (though I know of no such issue currently discussed on the wiki), but as WikiLemon exists for fans, it will be written from a Lemon Demon-favorable perspective. —LÆB

Well let me put it this way. On the unreleased songs it has a list of songs that aren’t included on any lemon demon cds. Next to them it says things such as “a really cool song” or “something short goofy and funny”. Well what if I don’t think that about the song? After all, these are opinions, not facts. I may hate the song. Thus, I strongly disapprove of including POV like this. —BadgetSmuck
Ok, I see what you mean. I can agree that it makes sense to not editorialise on the quality of songs. Feel free to make those changes, if you wish. —LÆB
well, then listsen to the song! Only you can know whether you like it or not. And EVERYONE who has heard Sundial on the message boards liked it. It’s not POV that it’s good. It’s fact.
“Song is good” is inherently a value judgment. No matter how many people like a song, that it is “good” is still POV. It is not POV to point out the popularity of a song, nor to mention features that people have mentioned that they like, but it is POV to assert that it is good. —LÆB 14:47, 13 March 2006 (EST)
The main point of a wiki is a database of fact, not opinion, so I agree as well that the opinions should be removed. —mattcgn
mattcgn, not all wikis are databases of fact. The first wiki was (and still is) nothing of the sort. Applying the wiki concept in such a way was Wikipedia’s idea, and not all wikis have to follow that structure. —LÆB 14:42, 13 March 2006 (EST)

I don’t think there is any dispute that this wiki should be written from a Lemon Demon-favourable point of view in general. At the present, it seems the discussion is over whether the wiki should ever include praise or criticism for individual songs. I suggest that, like on Wikipedia, it would be preferable to present opinions as opinions (rather than actually asserting them in writing), and thus provide opposing perspectives also, if possible. What do Y’ALLZ think? —LÆB 14:45, 13 March 2006 (EST)

OK, seems like a fair argument. Consider my opinion reversed. Also, funky find with the name signing, but I like blockquote method too, I wanna see how this looks
