Speaking of wiki and notability stuff, today I had a thought — in addition to WikiLemon, I’m also hosting The Sexiest Wiki On Earth and LoganUncleWiki, but those don’t get much activity, especially outside the Illemonati… so maybe I should start a wiki for indie/geek/comedyish bands in general, specifically ones that don’t have online fan-bases large enough to sustain wikis of their own. We could consolidate TSWOE and LUW into it, and include other bands too — Uncle Monsterface, Math The Band, et cetera, and of course any of our own little musical projects (at least ones that have released an album or two). Thoughts? |

Having a wiki for a bunch of similar bands would probably get people that are fans of one of those bands into other bands on the wiki, thus getting them to contribute to parts of the wiki they wouldn’t have touched before. It would certainly be better than a wiki for just Logan Whitehurst, since people have to know about and like Logan Whitehurst to contribute. So… I’m saying it would have a better chance of surviving than the other non-LD wikis you’ve started. Also sounds like it’d help me find more great music. =)

I was always thinking something like that would be great to do with WikiLemon since we have a lot set in stone already, like Templates and the like, that wouldn’t need to be moved. The only thing that we could add in is maybe a general category for all songs made by Neil so they could stay apart. I dunno. And then we could still keep many elements that make it WikiLemon in there (Like an article on WikiLemon or something), but rename the Wiki itself as something like DementiaWiki. Also, I think the forum posting hates us is there something we’re doing wrong? I put our posts in simple text so they’d be visible.

I don’t think the tentatively-named DementiaWiki should be built into WikiLemon. This place has enough activity if its own, and Neil does a lot of stuff that we can continue to wiki for years to come.

But on this wiki we’re likely to include Lemon Demon right? It would essentially contain everything other than Illemonati culture pages.
|
Not so. This wiki also covers Neil’s short films and stuff, and peripheral doings like AMF and Nemeburger, which wouldn’t fit in a music-themed “DementiaWiki”. (Besides, then what would happen to the Illemonati culture pages?) |
|
Out of the artist categories we have, Lemon Demon, Trapezoid and Potter Puppet Pals would go on, while MEGO, AMF, Bodhi and short film themes would be left to here. Sound good? That’s about 245/357 articles if you include pages for band pages, band members and such. |
|
This sounds like a great idea. Here’s what I think we should do: start with a carbon copy of WikiLemon. From there, delete all the content pages leaving us with a clean state while having all the useful templates working right away. That would be an ideal way to get the whole thing going. (I never really worked on LoganUncleWiki because I was miffed that the templates wouldn’t copy over right) |
|
LoganUncleWiki never worked because no one copied the CSS over. I have since done that. Also, we’d keep many WikiLemon pages on a new wiki, since it’s dementia too. |

Blah. I hate this template, it keeps breaking. Anyways, It’s up! [It’s here! http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/dementiawiki/index.php?title=Main_Page]. LÆB, Bran, e-mail me for the sysop username and password. I’ll get onto the CSS and whatnot if you don’t.

Do we need to share an account or something? And who’s Captain Wayne? |
|
Meh, he made a Sysop account, I guess we could always ask for our own accounts to have the same priveleges. Or maybe the WikiSysop account has the ability to do it… Captain Wayne is the guy who’s hosting, he works with the Mad Music Archive. |
