Huh?
Not a Number is a music project of mine that started in late 2006. So far, it’s just me, an acoustic guitar, a headset microphone and Audacity; but hopefully I’ll be moving onto more complex stuff. *watches space*
As of now, NaN isn’t the greatest music sensation, so until further notice, all songs are free.
NaN EP
Officially referred to as “The Acoustic EP”
Recorded: ??/??/2006 - 07/07/07
Released: 07/07/2007, but links worked fully 08/07/07.
Total time: 25:38
The one that started it. I’m not sure if this classes as an EP, as it is 11 tracks in length, yet it’s a “measly” 25 minutes long. Overall, this took over 9 months to create, but I got really into it in the end months (I can’t remember when I recorded the first version of the first track, so my best guess is 9 months)
Tracklist
-0: Let’s Rock! 2:53
Yes, lets. Uses stuff from the Duken Nukem 3D theme tune.
2: :59 0:59
The first track that I ever recorded. Is exactly 59.000000 seconds in length, thus the name.
3: Apocalypse (In 5..4..) 1:40
A little test I did with fret-tapping. The majority of the song is in 5/4 time, thus the “5..4..”.
4: Resurrection of Evil 1:46
A cover of the theme tune to Doom 3. Little technical, especially around the 21/8 section..
5: Trogdor 1:32
A full instrumental cover version of “Trogdor” from Homestar Runner. I was unable to do the “squeedly versus meedly solo”, so the backing guitar was played instead.
6: DooMedley 2:41
My my, I play a lot of Doom, don’t I? (well, not any more, I don’t have it on my hard disk). This is a medley of 3 levels from Doom and Doom 2.
7: 7seven787778.6 1:58
Sevense-wha? A little experiment on how technical I can play.
8: Power Outage - Unplugged 2:04
A neat little cover version of Exploding Jellyfish’s “Power Outage”. Ksoft himself said it “rocks”.
9: .sofauthoriT 3:09
No, I haven’t written the title backwards, (what does “Tirohtuafos.” mean, anyway? :P) it’s a cover of Linkin Park’s “Points of Authority”. Hopefully you can see how I got the title of the song. :P
10: Oh, Mr. Thunderstorm 3:46
What’s that? I actually wrote a song? RUN FOR TEH HILLSES! Was the first and probably the only time (as of now) I’ve ever recorded the guitar and vocals simultaneously. (Contains the odd swear. :O You have been warned.)
11: C.A.B. 3:10
No, I didn’t write another song, this is yet another cover of some song I heard live a few months back. Was one of the last songs to be recorded.
Bonus Tracks:
Unfortunately, I couldn’t put all of the bonus tracks up; they were either too sucky or too big.
Bonus track listing is as follows:
1: 7seven787778.6 (Version 1) 1:18
2: His World (Demo Sample) 0:28
3: Fury of the Storm (Demo Sample) 0:12
4: New Millennium Cyanide Christ 5:42
5: Oh, Mr. Thunderstorm (Version 1) 2:31
6: .sofauthoriT (Instrumental)] 3:10
7: .sofauthoriT (Version 1) 3:08
Re:spawned EP
Recorded: ??/01/2005 - ??/06/2005
Released: 11/12/2007
Total time: 31:38
Re:spawned is a collection of old tracks I made using a old version of eJay back in 2005, under the name “DMcK”. These songs are primarily hip-hop, dance and rave; you can tell which genre each track is when you listen to it. I was still learning how to use computers back then (after upgrading from a Pentium MMX running Windows 98), thus the quality isn’t too good. Though after stumbling across them a while back, I rebranded the songs under Not a Number and released then here.
Was released for a short space of time — hopefully you got it while you could. :D
All songs were made in January 2005 unless specified.
Tracklist
01. A Day (or 34) of Rest 1:30
Made during Summer 2005. Named so due it being on a “compilation CD” of favourtie songs of that months bearing the same name (because there were 34 days in that summer holiday; I put way too much thought into names.)
02. Djerba 3:09
Named so due its primary bassline called “DJERBA”.
03. Piano My Forte 3:41
The full name for the piano was once “piano e forte” so I’m told; here’s a dance-music tribute to its former name.
04. Red Light/Green Light 2:40
Named so due its bassline (that weird whooshy thing that goes from the left speaker to the right speaker) called Stop and Go.
05. >WhatU.R 1:21
Made in mid-2005. The loud bass at the end didn’t fully go to plan, but it was enough.
06. 1982 3:02
Named so due to the starting melody being called “The 80’s”.
07. Rave Planet Two 2:36
This is essentially a remake of an eJay track. Basically, the CD that I got had 4 programs: Total eJay, Dance eJay, Hip-hop eJay and Rave eJay. As I couldn’t export the default file from Rave eJay to a playable format, I tried my best in recreating it in Total.
08. Game Over (DanceMix’05) 3:14
Oh God. I found some Sonic the Hedgehog .wavs, set it to a dance beat and this was the end result.
FUN FACT: I submitted this to OCReMix back in June 2005 under the name “28% Will Do Fine” (I won’t go into detail about the name). It got rejected. :( I can see why.
09. Criminal Injustice II 3:29
Also known as “Pick Up the Phone”. Basically, a friend of mine tried making a track in eJay, and I tried using the same loops as him; this was my result.
10. Out of Control 3:00
PRISONERS 281 YOU ARE FREE.
11. Simpsons Megamix 3:58
Can I get another “Oh God.”? Same story as Game Over (DanceMix’05), using random .wavs, only this time, from The Simpsons. I added this just for kicks and laughs.
/0, Part 1 EP
Recorded: ??/07/2007 - ??/08/09
Released: 01/10/2009
Total time: 31:50
/0, Part 1 was to be a teaser for the supposed debut album /0. After 2 years in development hell, I officially cancelled /0 and moved on, releasing was to be on it for free. Please note that two tracks from /0 are being carried on to the next release, so these aren’t on this release.
Also please note I haven’t fixed the tags on the mp3s so of them may have the old /0 album artwork.
Tracklist
A) 32-bit Twist (2009 Demo) 3:17
This was to be the finished version of the AST cover I started back in 2007, but I kept procrastinating on finishing it. It’s a vocal track, and one of the most recent vocal tracks I’ve done.
B) 32-bit Twist (instr.) 3:17;;
The instrumental backing to the previous track.
C) Clouds (Illemonati Demo) 2:52
Also available on Semi Ecstatic Meanderings of a Community Gone Haywire. The backing to the full version has been recorded and will be carried onto the next Not a Number album.
D) In The Air Tonight (Demo 2) 5:05
I can’t remember whether this is a vocal cover of “In The Air Tonight” or just the instrumental backing… but I couldn’t really care either.
E) Infinity - Pt. 1 9:24
- I. Autumn
- II. Winter
I decided to take a leaf out of Dream Theater’s “Octavarium” and “A Change of Seasons” and make an epicly lengthed song around a single topic. Was originally going to be finished alongside Infinity part two, but I had ran out of sound memory in making Part One. This is only the instrumental version as the lyrics I wrote are crap.
F) Nothing’s Impossible (2007 Demo) 3:50
A sad tale about the luckiest man on the planet. This is the first version of this song.
G) Nothing’s Impossible 3:40
A more recent demo of the previous track.
H) Transition 0:15
This was going to be a track I wouldn’t’ve released for free on the “final” /0, Part 1 EP, but at 15 seconds.. that would’ve been stupid.
Day One
Since /0 is teh cancelled, I’ve moved onto the next project, since I’ve began using other programs (and also writing newer material as opposed to writing songs that are two years old).
Proposed Tracklist
01. Day Zero
Intro track.
02. Alpha
Will be one of the singles for Day One.
XX. (Release) The Animal Inside
Another single. This one will be slightly different as it is being made in Logic Pro 8 as opposed to Music 2000.
XX. Prologue: Into the Fire
One of the main attractions to Day One. Heed the warning. Was originally going to be on /0.
XX. Clouds (/0 Mix)
The full version to the Illemonati Demo from /0 Part 1 EP.
XX. Phoenix
Obligatory epic finale.
XX. Day One
Outro track.
Other Songs
Random songs I made that have very little chance of being on any future albums or EPs.
/b/s In Love 3:26
A nice little parody of Geeks in Love, focusing on the stereotypes that is the /b/tard.
Hyakugojyuuichi 2007 4:56
A nice little cover of the original I made for Neil’s birthday. :)
Sometimes It Amazes Me 1:02
When Bismuth. Threw this song together in around an hour, so it’s not the greatest composition I’ve ever made.
Me or My Cap 2:25
lol u gais i maed a youtoob poop song
01100010 01101001 01101110 01100001 01110010 01111001 3:09
A lyrical cover of the Trapezoid song of the same name
:awesome: 1:34
Awesome.
Improvised Jam 1 3:15
Improvising on the guitar. Nothing else.
METAL D8< 2:00
METAL.
Vegemitis Improvitis 2:32
Another improv session. To backing drums that you can barely hear.
The E minor Song 0:30
A short song. Improv yet again.
Aerials 3:57 (Demo 090419a)
A remix/cover of SOAD’s song of the same name. “Demo 090419a” is the latest one to get released.. though I think I’ve finished with that little project.
UNTITLED “09” 4:39
This was a test. Music 2000’s guitar samples aren’t very good — I wanted to try my hand at creating a Rock tune with a hint of Trance to it.
Through the Fire and the Flames ~HARDCORE REMIX~ 7:15
A DragonForce remix. Available on YouTube.
Battlemixes
I made a few Lemon Demon mixes as well, but I think I’ve done enough as I think it would be better if I focused on my own music a little more than just using other material.
Ultimate Disassociation Duology:
Part I 3:57
Part II 3:23
I noticed that at the time, The Ultimate Showdown and Word Disassociation were the only LD tracks that have a seperate vocal track available for download; as well as ther being an instrumental version for each as well. So I simply decided I would mix the two together and this was the result.
Showdown 1928 3:37
Set to Dream Theater’s “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory: Act 1, Scene 2: Part I. Overture 1928” (jesus nikki I wanted that to be a short song title). I never imagined I would make Dream Theater that little more awesomer.
Sonic 3 & Neil Cicierega 4:25
Set to Beatdrop’s Sonic & Knuckles ‘Catapult’ OC ReMix, which itself is a remix of the music from Sonic & Knuckles’ Flying Battery Zone.
Scrambled Showdown 3:12
Set to BrainCell & SnappleMan’s “Scrambled Eggman”, which itself is a remix of the boss music from Sonic & Knuckles.
Wordan Jordisaccociation 3:56
Set to “Jordan” by Buckethead.
The Ultimate Showdown (but without the whole “Ultimate Destiny” part) 3:37
What I call a “reverse battlemix”: where the vocals from another song are placed with an LD track.
Set with “Without Me” by Eminem.
I Always Thought that the Guitar Solos in DragonForce’s Songs Were a Little on the Long Side, but I Never Realised that I Would Have Evidence to Prove Such a Theory… huh. 2:29
Yes, that is the title. Set to the guitar solo of “Through the Fire and the Flames” by DragonForce. Title says it all. :P
