Dr. Demento
From WikiLemon
Dr. Demento (born April 2, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN) is the stage name of Barret Hansen, who has made a successful career as a radio disc jockey specializing in novelty songs and pop music parodies. To some people, he is best known as the man who brought rock parodist “Weird Al” Yankovic to national attention.
Dr. Demento has played the music of Lemon Demon on numerous occasions, including several plays on the Funny Five countdown of the week’s most requested songs. On his February 12th and February 19th 2006 shows, Dr. Demento respectively played the first and second segments of a previously recorded phone interview with Lemon Demon. Dr. Demento’s radio program has also featured the music of Lemon Demon collaborator Aaron Ackerson, including The Artichoke Song, which features background vocals by Neil Cicierega. The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny made #1 for the year on the Funny 25 show of 2006.
A cartoon image of Dr. Demento appears in the Flash music video of Geeks In Love on the “our favorite bands” line.
